Precinct Caucuses – Why should I go?

Precinct caucuses are the foundation of Minnesota’s Republican Party. This is where grassroots Republicans like you come together to endorse candidates, select delegates, and shape the party platform.

Who can attend? This is the criteria to be able to attend caucus.

  • If you are eligible to vote by November in the general election.
  • If you reside in the precinct.
  • If you agree with the party’s stated principles.

This is where your voice matters most. The decisions made at caucuses ripple up through the entire party structure.

What do we do at the Precinct Caucus?

  • We will listen to candidates running for local and state offices, for example, governor.
    • Come and listen to the candidates and participate in a straw poll.
  • We will elect delegates to go to the county convention.
    • Elect delegates who will represent your precinct at future conventions. These delegates will endorse state and federal candidates.
  • We will make resolutions that could shape the party platform.
    • A resolution is an change that you would like to see in the party platform.

Being elected as a delegate or alternate allows you to represent your precinct for the next two years at party conventions, endorsing conventions, and elect party the county’s executive committee.
